The Louvre: Mona and Venus together

Palais du Louvre was built in 1190,  in the 16th C it became a royal residence then after the French Revolution in 1793 it became a national museum.  The glass pyramid was designed by I.M. Pei and was opened in 1989 as the main entrance to the Louvre.  As spectacular as the entrance is the quickest way in is by the underground entry over in the garden on the other side of the round about unfortunately we decided to que for about an hour for the privilege.  The most famous work of art in the Louvre is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci 1503 followed by the Venus de Milo a Hellenistic masterpiece of a goddess.  The museum is enormous so if you just focus on what you want to see it is less overwhelming and more of a challenge to find what you want with the kids.

The alternative entrance is just to the left of the garden.
