Campervan'n in Tasmania

We had 8 nights to camper van around Tasmania in the January 2015 school holidays.  What fun! after a couple of days of regularly stalling the very large van in Tassie 'traffic' while changing gears we got the hang of it and decided early on not to use the in-van toilet/shower or kitchen because its a holiday and I'm not draining tiolet contents and cooking - Yeah!

We quickly developed a routine for sharing our little home on wheels and in the end really enjoyed the daily routine of fixing up the kitchen table/bed and locking away everything to avoid the fall out whilst on the move.  No technology meant the kids and Alex had a great time playing cards and reading.

The trip started in freezing Hobart never mind it being summer, the place was cold luckily we took puffer jackets and rain shells. We then ventured on to explore Port Arthur, Sorell, Richmond, Cradle Mnt, Launceston and Freycinet National Park.

Tires grumble, wind whistles though windows, carriage shakes, when you step inside you step into a mouse hole, this holiday we’re in a campervan!

Friday the 16th of January our family flew from Sydney to Hobart Tasmania. Almost as soon as we got there we tried to hire our massive campervan but instead our campervan wasn’t ready so we ended up with the tiniest campervan in the world. Just for the day. Here is where we drove…

Cradle Mnt camping grounds very nice - had a run in with a tree but a fellow camper helped us chop it down because we were stuck.
