The bountiful Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps

The Trevi Fountain 1732 takes up a whole square, the baroque sculpture and water feature depict Neptune on his chariot being led by tritons with sea horses. The site was made famous in the film La Dolce Vita.  It is now a site of pilgrimage for anyone who comes to Rome however you have to fight the throng of people to get to the waters edge in order to throw a coin in - the council must make a fortune collecting the daily offerings.

We visited the Spanish Steps 1725 named after the Spanish Embassy, they lead up to the Chiesa della Trinita die Monti. The Steps are next to the Keats Shelley Memorial house where the poet died of TB in 1821.  Had a memorable dinner at a street side cafe near the steps - being serenaded by a piano accordian and offered flowers was nice.

Toss a coin for good luck into the Trevi Fountain
