Hobart and surrounds

Hobart is lovely, an 'old world' city, lots of sandstone buildings and groovy arts and crafts shops
(Tassie is the home of wonderful wood furniture design so saw a bit of that too).  Its situated on the water surrounded by lots of hills and one big one Mt Wellington very entertaining to drive to the top on a day like we did - gale force winds and minus 15 chill factor its known to snow up there in summer!   The wharf area of Hobart is the most interesting with Salamanca Market and the starting point for the MONA ferry.  Its also were the best bakery is ever! - Daci and Daci Bakers - a must try.  Venturing just outside Hobart is the Cadbury Factory which the kids wanted to see - though you don't get to see the Chocolate being made any more they have a slide show and a host that gives a brief run down and most importantly hands out show bags of chocolate!

Cadbury Chocolate Factory

Pooley Vineyard Richmond - wine tasting around the back what to do when the kids fall asleep in the van whilst driving

Richmond's miniature model of old Hobart Town - had to find 4 characters which took a bit of effort and made it more interesting.

Convict made Richmond Bridge 1823 - Australia's oldest working bridge

Salamanca Market day in Hobart

The top of Mt Wellington - standing up to the wind was an achievement!

Minus 15 wind chill factor and your wearing shorts!

Our trusty Campervan which climbed the Mnt and rocked in the wind.

Summer in Hobart - puffer jacket and rain shell compulsory
