Florence: Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Uffizi and David

We pre booked tickets in Australia to see the Uffizi and Galleria dell'Academia in Florence and thank goodness the ques are incredible - yes it was Easter holidays but lines went for ever.  Pre booking enabled us to bypass some of the wait and with kids it is recommended.  The highlight is The Galleria Degli Uffizi 1560 which safe guards the Medici family's private art collection among the most famous are the works by Botticelli, Raphael, Leonardo di Vinci and Michelangelo.  My favourites are the Renaissance greats: 'Primavera' and the 'Birth of Venus' by Botticelli. Michelangelo's colossal marble 'David' sculpture in the Galleria dell' Academia is also an iconic piece of work 1504 - you weren't allowed to take photos but everyone else used their mobiles to sneak one!

The spectacular Duomo in Florence with its red tiled dome and pink, white and green marble facade 1296.  The ques were too long to enter and climb the dome.
