Naples escapades on Easter day

We drove to Naples from Rome a 2.5hrs high speed journey, Italians love to flash you off the fast lane if you are not doing over 150kmh!  Alex spent 6mnths living in Naples as a child so it was nice for him to reminisce on our trip there.  In the birthplace of pizza we ended up having a pizza lunch on the foreshore opposite the ancient port and promenade a place for everyone to walk.

After lunch we tried to negotiate the cobbled back streets of Naples to get to Pompeii - what an experience!  Every local area had an Easter procession starting with street fireworks and walking bands with followers carrying religious banners.  Naples has a reputation for crazy drivers which explains why most cars are small and dented with missing rear vision mirrors.  Horns were tooting, residents came out to wave angry fists at drivers, bikes and cars were trying to weave and turn to get past the parades.  We just sat there in awe at the spectacle! unable to move until they passed.
