London's calling: Big Ben & Westminster

'Grey old London town' the skies didn't change much and it was pretty cold too but we had a great time soaking up some history.  First day we took in Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery and Covent Garden.

The kids had a special experience in Westminster Abbey we were wandering around when a Church attendant spied us and noticed that we were pointing out the Heads of Commonwealth chair where the Australian Ambassador sits for special occasions he guessed we were Aussies and asked if the kids would like to go into the roped off area to sit in it.  He gave a little friendly talk to the children about studying hard and one day they might be able to represent Australia in that chair at a future Coronation - we were grateful for the pep talk but unfortunately no photos were allowed.

'Big Ben' the most famous feature of the Houses of Parliament -  clock tower 1858

Statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square
Entry to Westminster Abbey 1180 - 1280
Our apartment in Earls Court '1 The Mansions'
Ours was the top floor apartment so had good views up Earls Court Rd and surrounds.
