Chamonix idyllic French ski resort

We had a week skiing in the Chamonix ski area which was amazing - the mountains are ever present, the French architecture, Christmas holiday atmosphere, shopping and food were nice too.

Eglise Saint-Michel de chamonix-Mont-Blanc a pretty church near the
Maison de la Montagne were we met our ski guides each day.

Our apartment building to the left

The apartment Residence Quartz Mont Blanc was great had
every thing we needed and was right in town

Crepes for arvo tea

La Caleche - Chamoniard fare with alpine lodge artifacts decorating every wall.

Gondola's to the top

Hot chocolates on top of Brevent

The town is below the cloud line, the ski fields are high up!

We skied in a number of areas in the valley linked by a public bus which the kids managed on their own. Ski fields explored were Brevent, Flegere, Le Tour and the kids also did Grands Montets the area is bordered by Switzerland and Italy with Mont Blanc 4810m over looking it all.

A nice easy run compare to the hair raising steep ones every where else

Caught the cable car up to Aiguille Du Midi 3842 m

Freezing cold up there!

Gare du Montenvers Mer de Glace, we caught a little red train up the
 mountain to see the glacier

The glacier Mer de Glace which is retreating with global
warming  shown by the yearly markers.

Le Refuge du Montenvers 1880's mountain hotel very atmospheric,
reminded me of Grand Budapest the movie.

Brotherly love before tossing her down the mountain!
