Overland Track TAS 2023

In Jan 2023 after having a relaxing holiday at Lord Howe Island our family then completed 'The Overland Track' an alpine walk in beautiful TAS.  We completed this with the Tasmanian Walking Company and set off with 8 others and 2 guides from the iconic Cradle Mountain finishing at Australia's deepest lake - Lake St Clair,  we travelled 65 km over 6 days through the heart of the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park, part of the magnificent Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

It was physically and emotionally tiring but scenically spectacular.  This is a landscape of glacially carved valleys, ancient rainforests, golden button grass moorlands and beautiful alpine meadows with spectacular ranges.  Oren also went up Tasmania's highest peak, Mount Ossa (1617m) scaling the Jurassic dolerite to get to the top.

We finished our walk at Narcissus Hut at the head of Lake St Clair where we then boarded a small ferry boat across the lake to reach the Lake St Clair Visitor Center at Cynthia Bay.
